Automation greyed out in arrangement.

Hi All,

I'm sure this is operator error, but I've got a problem with previously recorded automation via the Push encoders in arrangement view. The scenario is this:
I've recorded an extended on the fly piece with a Doepfer Dark Time into Arr.view, with several automated parameters, and after I've stopped the recording I can see all the individual parameters and the various knob twiddled. Unfortunately, something then happens (I'm convinced it's something I'm doing but I can't work out what) and all the automation gets greyed out and there is only a red dotted line overlaid the recorded automation. Worse is the fact that it appears to be lost forever and I can't get it back.
I also can't seem to replicate this problem when I'm trying to find out how it happens. It is driving me bonkers, so if anyone knows what I'm doing/not doing any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
M.Abbott.

Hi ,i would start with the re/enable automation button (box with arrow pointing to the right (5) along from the play button  ,i f you adjust a control/part that has an existing automation it disables  …bar that, I'm not sure what else it would be  ?

Take a look at your controller it could well be that.

In my case the first run through would allow me automate a value (I used MAX4live arp with controller mapping but I could have used the Push2 or whatever) which worked fine until AFTER I did a record, then it would insist on correctly DISABLING the automation (THE ORANGE BUTTON LIGHTS UP WITH A BACK ARROW ON IT)

One can either, at that moment, DISABLE THE AUTOMATION FROM THE DEVICE, or delete the already recorded data.

HOWEVER, attempting to press play without doing one of those will endlessly relight the orange "I HAVE DISABLED YOUR AUTOMATION" button, which you must again press after doing ONE of the above first.  This is as a consequence of the recorded automation being "auto offed" by the incoming new controller messages.

Hope that helps. Drove me nuts for a bit.
