Audio Clip in Odd Time Signature Not Syncing

I'm new to 9.7 but not entirely new to Live. (Haven't used it in years.) I dragged a two-bar clip into an audio slot in Session View and then reset the start and end markers of the clip so it would repeat (loop) in 7/4. But it rapidly drifts out of sync with the metronome click, which tells me something screwy is going on.

I tried setting the Scene to 7/4, but that didn't help. I still get drift. I know it's _trying_ to follow the Live tempo, because if I change the tempo setting in the upper left corner, the clip speeds up or slows down, but somehow Live is still trying to make it into a 4/4 clip.

Or something like that.

This is probably user error (I hope). How would I shorten a clip to a 5/4 or 7/4 length and keep it locked to what Live thinks of as the quarter-note?

Make sure that Live's global time signature (top left corner, next to the metronome switch) is set to 7/4.
