Ableton 9 Suite & Windows 10 Technical Preview

Hi everyone.  Just downloaded the Windows 10 Technical Preview.  Thought i would check out its compatibility with Ableton 9 Suite.  Looks like it hangs during initialization.  Tried different compatibility settings in windows to no avail.  Thoughts?  Also tried both 32 and 64 bit installations with no luck.

We are definitely making progress in getting Live fully compatible with Windows 10, we aim to ensure full compatibility until the release date end of july.

However, in software, hardware and the combination of those two, there are many things which can go wrong when a new operating system launches, and we generally believe it is a smart thing to wait a few weeks before upgrading.

    Hi there,

So far we have not yet officially tested Windows 10 preview and Live 9, so we don't have a profound answer to this phenomenon at this point. For now we recommend holding off and using Windows 7 or 8.

Once Windows 10 goes into Beta stage, we will start compatibility tests, with the goal to have Live fully compatible to Windows 10 when it is officially released.

    Best,

    daw

I'm having this issue, too. I got the x64 version to open once today (about the 5th try launching it after reinstalling for the second time and with no other applications open) and it ran fine once it opened, but I haven't had the luck of it launching since then.

Live 9 is fully compatible with Windows 10 now, but we noticed a few cases, where the migration from Windows 7 or 8 broke the Live installation or messed up the preferences.

In these cases we recommend performing a clean reinstallation of Live on Windows 10.

Here you can find instructions how to completely uninstall Live:

    https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/how-to-uninstall-live-completely/

After uninstalling, please download the latest Live 9 version from your account:

In case Live keeps crashing or will not launch, please send your crash reports to our support staff:

    cheers,

    Also,

Abelton staff -  will you be looking to support multi touch in this version? that would make ableton by far  the best product out there!! Have been looking forward to that one for years.

I have Ableton Live Lite 9.1.8 that came with my Novation LaunchKey 49.

    Windows 10, FBL_Impressive 10125.

32bit install hangs on the splash screen.

    64bit version works fine!

Update - 64bit version worked fine the first few times, but then it started freezing on the "Creating a new Live Set.. .." step, so I can't launch it anymore. I guess I'll have to try to get the 9.2 Beta...

The 9.2b11 build had the same problem, but the release candidate 9.2b12 seems to be starting fine most of the time (sometimes after OS reboot).

Then again - the final 9.2 Suite doesn't start so far, hanging on "Creating a new Live Set.. ..".

Live 9 Suite and Push owner trepidatious about signing up for a Windows10 upgrade from 8.1 if it will break my production setup.  Microsoft is making a major push to get 8 owners to upgrade to 10.

    To Ableton Staff:

Just wondering if you are planning to optimize for mobile platforms i.e. tablets & phones? I know everything is intended to be compatible, but I'm just wondering. Don't want to make the apple jump to pc if I can't run on mobile devices. Thanks, C

    I have windows 10

I' ve downloaded Ableton Live 9.5 (version trial), but it doesn´t work.

When I start the program, this message appears:

"A serious program error has occurred.

Live wil shut down after this message box is closed"

Why does it happen this? Can somebody help me?

     Thanks

Just wanted to jump in and confirm the same problem.  I'm running a dual boot so I have windows 10 just for testing for things like this and am able to run win 8 as my daily, but I have tried clean installs, 32 vs 64 bit, it seems like it hangs between initializing and creating new set.  My suspicion is that it is an audio driver issue, but I haven't been able to really confirm that.

I also was able to get the x64 version to open one time after a clean install and then never again, so I'm wondering if you set up your audio source at that time?

I'm running W10 preview build 1074 and live 9 intro 64 bit with no issues whatsoever. In fact it runs incredibly well. Using the asio4all audio driver and able to get the lowest latency I've ever achieved. Maybe it works for me because it's the intro version? Not sure, but it's very nice.

UPDATE!  I have opened Live 9 for the first time since i installed Windows 10!  After reading a few replies of users that were having success at least opening Live I decided to test their methods.  I seem to be able to open Live if i do the following.

    1.  Attempt to open Live 9.2 Beta v12 by right clicking and selecting "Open as Admin"

    2.  While that is hanging trying to open i went and Opened the latest version of Live 9 i downloaded also as Admin.

    3.  Beta will crash but normal Live 9 seems to give me the rewire error and then opens!!!  omergerdddd.
