A way to chop long midi recording into separate clips of fixed size?

When writing drum loops I generally hit record and play for 20 or 30 repetitions and then extract the best variations to separate clips.  Right now, in Session View, I do the following steps:

1. highlight the bit I want to chop,
2. Cmd+X (cut),
3. create a new clip,
4. adjust the size if needed,
5. clip on the midi area and paste
6. Lather, rinse, repeat...

Is there an "extract loop to new clip" feature anywhere or any other way to automate this a bit?

I have the same question! It's much more powerful and practical to edit separate little midi blurbs rather than getting kind of lost editing the whole long tracks.

the following are all fairly good resources. I would suggest setting some warp markers to mark your sounds, then doing what these people did, except using the slice at warp markers. I am simply too tired to explain. post back if this does not make sense tomorrow morning.
