Marcus has a background as a guitarist in Swedish space rock band Surrounded who have been described as "Sweden's answer to The Flaming Lips" (One Little Indian Records). He started producing bands and artists in the late 90s in various genres. With a playful mind he now uses Ableton Live to blend traditional and electronic instruments both on stage and in the studio.
Marcus works as a lecturer in music production and electronic digital instruments (EDI) at Linnaeus University in Sweden. Some of the classes he teach at Linnaeus University where Ableton Live is used are: 1MV500 Music Production I (online), 1MV501 Music Production II (online) 1MG400 Music Production for upper secondary school (online) and the Music Teacher Programme where Linnaeus University offers EDI as an eligible principal instrument (main instrument).
Marcus has also done work using Ableton Live to democratize musical expression. During his master thesis he explored how Ableton Live and various controllers such as the Nintendo Wii-controllers could help children with motor disabilities take part in the school's regular music classes. The goal was to create electronic instruments that could match the children's physical ability and make them able to express themselves musically together. Which they ended up doing.
