User 1 mode and "freestyling"

Hi,

I'm new to Ableton (just purchased a Launchpad yesterday!) and I'd like to do something like M4SONIC, freestyle / make music "live" with the User 1 mode.

To clarify, video clip:

However, even after vigorous googling, I cannot seem to find a way to map multiple different samples to the user1 mode. I can add a drum rack, but it seems to include just the drums, and adding different instruments seem to result in separate tracks -> I have to select the other track in mixer to play those notes in User 1.

It is ironic, that it is so hard to find a way to do the simplest thing ever - just map sounds to keys, without anything like looping/recording.

Of course, I'm probably missing something very simple. Enlighten me, please :P

Thanks in advance,

V

Add drum rack. Drop samples into the drum rack. Voila!

    As Chris said.

    1. Just drop those samples in. As for synts. It would be best to make them, freeze and just drag that frosen clip to the same sampler.

    2. Else you could do a combination of midi-key plugin - (possibly) midi chord - plugin - effects of you want a specific key.

the reason for 2. is because you cannot trigger chords or key combinations manually when using this mode. The root key of the drum rack is c3 so if you want anything else you would have to manually configure this.

If you want true control over your synths i would suggest using the "madeon-approach".
