Output skips or stops for a second during playback after dropping in a new MIDI instruments track, adding an audio effect to an instrument

I like to work on my projects in real-time so I drop a lot of effects, new midi instruments or change a midi instrument while playback is happening so that I can keep the flow going but I seem to have an issue where the audio from the Master noticeably stops for a second and then continues playback like nothing happened.

I'm not really concerned on achieving this live but it really throws me off and I'd prefer it didn't do it all..

I've messed with the Buffer Size but the problem with this is the obvious latency with a higher buffer size. Ideally I'd like to keep it as low as possible but the lower it gets the more obvious or longer the skip/stop is. This could work if I was able to temporarily increase the latency, drop in the effect or instrument then return it back to the lower buffer size but the if playback is happening when I switch Buffer Sizes I get some hectic distortion/clipping/pause worse then the initial problem.

Is this a limitation of my hardware (CPU or memory) or is there something I can do that might remedy this?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Freezing is not an option either as it stops the audio and disables me from modifying instruments

Happens regardless of OS version too.

I think it is a limitation in your hardware. Ableton sometimes has a hard time keeping playback going when you insert fx or instruments.
Don't think there is much you can do about it.
