Live 9.1 update replaces Live 9 file directory and deletes manually created files/folders

Hi, just ran through the 9.1 upgrade on pc and on starting was prompted to re-enter the custom VST plug in folder. When searching I also discovered that previously installed packs were appearing in the browser but not showing any files under the folder/pack name. I had originally manually created folders in the c:/program data/ableton/live 9 suite, specificall to store VST plug in dll files as well as installed pack files as I wanted to keep all related Ableton application files in one central location, all these custom created folders were deleted during the upgrade process. Why? I now need to reinstall all VST plug ins and packs from scratch, this should have been noted in the install/upgrade process so that I could temporarily copy the folders out and bring them back in after upgrade. Can someone confirm whether I will need to reinstall from scratch or if there is a way to salvage the previous folders and link to them in the options-file/folders?

    I was afraid for this..

So I downloaded the installer but copied the program folder to my desktop, renamed it as 9.1 and dragged that in to my applications folder.

Works like a charm and I will allways be able to go backt to 9.0

    Hope that helps!

what a pain, now firefighting instead of making music. going back to 9.06 doesn't help either. plug-ins and audio effects jump in and out of program with a will of it's own. great!
