In search of a robust, mobile audio interface

Hi there,

I'm looking for a robust audio interface for live performance and recording while on the road. In my home studio I'm working with an Apogee Quartet. I'm happy with it, don't want to take it with me.

Gig setup:

Ableton Live on a Macbook Pro via USB, various iOS synths and samplers via iPad, two Kaoss pads, Teenage Engineering OP-1 (sic).

Ableton Live and OP-1 are used as source in this setup. I need to be able to sample/resample other instruments via iPad.

The audio interface should feature 4 analog ins and 4 outs, at least one additional headphone out, feature 24 bit and 96 kHz or higher.

I'm aware of the RME Fireface UCX - its price point is too high for me at the moment.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated and considered.

Thanks and best,

My audio interface is the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 (8 in / 6 out) USB device. Metal casing, zero latency headphone monitoring and rock solid drivers. That's my recommendation anyway !
