Hi there, first time user here !

Can anyone help me - my Ableton transport bar that moves form left to right in arrangement view is always 1 beat (1/4 of a bar) ahead of where it should be......frustrating. I want the line to always be exactly where the point in the track is...any ideas ? thanks, Scott.

Odds are the delay is caused by audio driver latency.  To reduce latency, you can lower your soundcard buffer size, lower the sample rate and/or bit-depth of your project, and pretty much anything else that lowers the quality of the real-time playback so Live's mixing engine can keep up with its GUI.  But don't take things down too far; when you reduce buffer sizes or drop driver latency your CPU usage goes up.  Lower things too much and your audio can start to break up or drop out when CPU usage peaks.

If you have an ASIO compatible soundcard or audio interface, make sure you're using it with ASIO drivers.  If not, I'd recommend in investing in one as soon as you can manage it.

Keep in mind that latency is something that you can minimize but never get rid of entirely.  There's always going to be a delay when converting between analog and digital, applying effects, mixing, and anything else that's going on in real-time playback.  This is especially true when you're recording from external sources like vocals, guitars, external synthesizers, returns from outboard effects processors, or even just recording a performance from a MIDI keyboard.  You're just going to have to learn to compensate for it.
