After playing and programming in synth bands in her teens, she continued to study MIDI-based applications at Baylor University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She went on to receive a Master of Music degree in Music Technology Innovation at Berklee Valencia in Spain, where she developed her “Orbit Suit,” using Live and controllers to “remix” a guitar player in real time on stage. This project was featured at Sonar:D in Barcelona, and was also mentioned by Billboard magazine. She has presented and performed at various festivals and conferences including Ableton's Loop Summit, The Association for Popular Music Education Conference, The Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association Summit, Microsoft’s DigiGirlz Program, MIT’s EmTech España and Musikmesse. Misty currently teaches synthesis, electronic music, and controllerism at MTSU, and is available for workshops and consulting.
