Richard, a.k.a. DiiSiiMO (pronounced deece-emo), is a sample-based performer, remixer, producer, teacher, VJ and DJ. Richard currently provides online training, and has held the post of Curriculum Director at the Studio 001 Media Academy in Trinidad. He started training students in DJ & Radio Presentation skills in the early 2000âs.
His journey using Live began in 2008 as a sample-based performer for a hugely popular Caribbean outfit called Kes The Band. For three years prior, he was using hardware samplers to trigger percussion and vocal samples but wanted to become more flexible on stage. Thatâs when he discovered Live 7. His ability to use live effects to make every performance unique singled him out as one of the most identifiable playback performers in the Caribbean market up to this day. Heâs also performed and toured with the Alternative Quartet and a few others, shown up in a music video or two đ, as well as headed his own studio production team called BloodShot ProductionZ.
Richard specializes in teaching Live Performance and Music Production and many other skills under those umbrellas. He trains special interest groups such as music production teams, high profile musicians, DJs, and performers in the Caribbean, as well as international students online.
For the past five years heâs been an instructor at The University of Trinidad & Tobago, leading his own course in Remix Production within their BFA programme in Digital Media Arts.
At this point, Richard is the only Ableton Certified Trainer in the Caribbean.
