Dustin uses Live, Push, and Max/MSP in a variety of settings, from a “traditional” tracking DAW, to flexible live accompaniment with bands, to audio/visual installations, and as a creative tool for composition both live and in the studio. He also uses Live in his solo and ensemble performances as Young Weather, creating electro-acoustic textural music in a variety of venues. Dustin is always working on ways to bring Live’s “in the box” elements to visual, kinetic, and “out of the box” physical controls - to stand alongside acoustic and percussive instruments.

Dustin is a professor of music production at the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he’s taught since 2010. His classes include beginner and advanced Ableton Live, Push, and Max for Live curricula. He is currently working on a Masters of Music in Music Technology, and doing research and composition with Max/MSP to provide pitched ambient dimension to traditional acoustic percussion via real-time granular synthesis.

He is also available for private and/or group lessons, workshops for churches, bands, and art galleries/venues, customized for anyone from complete beginners to experienced creators.
