riots: not yet

I don't think life is uncomfortable enough yet for Americans to "riot in the streets" if Bush gets elected. What would be the point, anyway? Then they would have an excuse to put all us "liberals" in a prison camp. You know they want to. A lot of my friends joke about leaving the...

religion

I think Kerry has been playing up his religious beliefs lately for this exact reason. You are correct in pointing out the connection between Bush and religion; much of the support that Bush enjoys seems to be based on "faith." Indeed, how else could one support him? All indicators as to US...

confused

I am at the point where I am geniunely confused about why people would vote for Bush. I have attempted to start conversations with several people who claim they support him, but after a few questions they cease to write back... This confirms my suspicion that "republicans" do not actually ...

philadelphia

Philadelphia here.... I can host up to 4 people comfortably in my west philly apartment, perhaps a good deal of jamming and loop remixing could happen too... if you make it to philadelphia on the second friday of the month, I should be able to hook people up with a free nice venue with 2 separate ro...

Unable to Save > Then "Sample Offline"

Sometimes when I am recording samples, and dragging them from the session view to the arranger view, ableton Live says that it is unable to save the file because it can't find some of the clips. After I click "OK" to that message, all of the clips on screen will read "Sample Offline&q...

ahhh!

I get it!

So you can theoretically play in the "negative space" of music - by triggering one channel above a certain threshhold you prevent another from being heard. Do I have this right?

I would love this feature as well.

automation grayed out?

Suppose you automate track volume over a certain section of the arranger, and then you manually click the track volume and drag it up or down, changing it to a new value. Now all of your automation lines are a grayed-out color, and Live will not obey the automation. and the little red box that appea...

explain

Could you please explain this fascinating technique a little bit more? When you say that you are adding envelopes to the looped audio file, are you adding envelopes that are longer than the loop length of the file itself? I have never done this, just a little more detail would go a long way. Props t...

yes, exactly. DO ALL OF THEM NOW! what's so unreasonable about that? what if 50 more mac users (those are the only people for whom Logic is an option, right?) complain publicly and end all their emails with "PLLLEEEEZE?" haha, just kidding of course. LOL. I'm amazed you all still read this...

yeah

If you have the budget, the Nomad line of mp3 players are excellent for portable recording. They can record an ENORMOUS amount of audio in 96 kHz WAV format. You can then transfer the wav files by firewire or usb back to your computer. There's also a lot of fun you can have with them. Some come with...

nice

Ableton live 2.0.3 works perfectly on my PC - a 1.7ghz P4 with 768mb RAM running XP, and so I have no real gripes with performance. Their promise shows that they're not only listening to (y)our complaints, but are even putting them ahead of other considerations. Surely they didn't expect or want to ...

argh.

I really tried to keep my mouth shut, but I couldn't. The guy they're interviewing - Jay Haze - used to live in Philadelphia (my home town). His entire "Tuning Spork" crew made a living out of shitting on other people's music and musical ideas, all the while glorifying their own. Add to th...
