I have moved my Desktop to G:\Desktop. When I use the Live
file browser to access the Desktop via its built-in bookmark it
goes to C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Desktop which is
not correct.
The proper technique is to check
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Live 6.01 (PC) does not know how to find Desktop
i am having the same problem as well. it appears that the ableton browsers aren't using the same registry reference as the operating system.
also are you using xp tweak ui or just adjusting the registry? i am using tweak ui (and have been for years).
it's not a showstopper, but definetly raises my eyebrows
i point certain special folders on different partitions and also mount drives to empty ntfs folders (pretty slick trick if you have a bunch of drives and you have to move back and forth between a laptop)

Hi arachnaut,
only as a hint (I won't discuss this here): It is not the proper technique to check the registry directly and it is actually deprecated by Microsoft.
The bug you are observing is caused by unclearities and undefined behaviour on the Windows API. It will be fixed (appropriately).
Regards,
Gregor

I didn't mean to come across that I was trying to tell you how to do your job
especially since I'm not a Windows programmer.
Use whatever method works.
None of my other apps (that I know of) fails to find the desktop.
