Beatport's Fraud With Warner Music and EMI!
Hallo.......
Did you know that Beatport is on the way out of the "Club"! Unbeliveable they have been signing contracts with the biggest major labels like Warner! and EMI without even mention it to the other labels on BP! That's a totally sellout and it is the beginning of end for BP. Major labels are the death to indie labels, they are the baddest thing in the music industry you can think of. They ruined the music scene back in the 80's and 90's, they did nothing to support the deejay's and club culture back then, and now they are coming creaping into the scene again with the only one thing in mind selling out and ruin a scene that they lost the control over back in the 90's. I have to laugh, Beatport is selling pop music now!? That's a totally overkill from Beatport to its loyal customers and the clubscene who actually thinks that BP stands for quality dance music. I wont support that model that's for sure!

I was never too worried about Beatport having too much music, music 'not underground enough', etc... the search capability and ability to favorite artists was very useful and allowed me to filter through the garbage pretty quickly. The price killed it for me; Beatport often was just too expensive.

Major labels won’t ruin beatport. What ruined beatport, and by extension underground music, is beatport told every producer they had to be on a label and instead of producers finding a respectable label they invented their own label and were up and running within a week churning out their garbage on their “label” with zero quality control. That ruined it and will continue to.

I agree but it still takes people to buy it for beatport to even care. They could host all of Atlantic's catalog, it doesn't mean the beatport user base will actually buy it. I just hope we don't see BP advertising too much in this direction and pushing their fan base away (that's when i'll be disappointed).
Regarding your quality control comment, i do agree but last year they implemented the 300 sales per quarter minimum which should help w/ the 4000 tracks a week we're currently seeing being released. I hope they roll out more QC requirements but I know this weeded out a lot of the small guys and pushed them to places like bandcamp.

First off, nobody is getting rich off of music download sales.
Second, the point of a label isn’t as some technicality to get your tracks on places like beatport like it’s a God given right. The point of a label is promotion to get your music heard and/or get you gigs in the process and making money for all involved.
Creating a label over the weekend isn’t sticking it to The Man. It’s further diluting the pool of bullshit that is already out there. So yay, your song rules and you used the loophole to get your track on beatport….and so did 100 other assholes who’s tracks suck. But I guess the warm feeling of being on beatport is all it takes for some producers to feel they’ve arrived.
