How do I delay something and speed up the delay?
Hey guys,
Im trying to get this effect where you hear something and it has a delay on it, so it makes some noise, and it does it over and over again, but I want to adjust the delay so that it repeats closer and closer together until its like du du du du du du du du du du du du dududududududududududududud
know what I mean?
lol.

unsync the delay from tempo. you'll have to fiddle to get the delay working in time, but that's the old school way, it won't kill you. then you can automate/draw in the delay time shorter, and of course it will speed up.
if you don't need it to be continuous like that, just switch the tempo delay rate where you need it to speed up and record that as automation, or draw it in by hand.

live's delays are not interpolated , so manual speed increase will click horribly.blakbeltjonez wrote:unsync the delay from tempo. you'll have to fiddle to get the delay working in time, but that's the old school way, it won't kill you. then you can automate/draw in the delay time shorter, and of course it will speed up.

^^ or Dubstation (www.audiodamage.com)...$40 and so easily worth it as it's so easy to use. Hit the unsync button, trigger your sample and wind down the delay time...but be prepared to lose the next 4hrs making random noises!...too much fun!

TAL-Dub it's very good and free.
King Dubby also free and now UB AU
Dubstation is good, but I prefer TAL-Dub, it's a lot "dirtier".

Re: How do I delay something and speed up the delay?
Hi mate,
I'm afraid you can not do this easily with a standart delay effect because you will certainly obtain audio glitches while you reduce the delay value.
Maybe you could try to do the trick by hand:
1. sample the sound you want to repeat and load it in Simpler instrument
2. record a midi clip and press the corresponding note faster and faster
You can either record a midi clip with equally spaced notes (e.g. 16th notes) and then automate the tempo in the master track so that it speeds up. Then you can export the result in an audio file... et voilà! Ready to use!
Hope it will help!
