Live 7 / EIC2 - Many of the instruments "don't work"

Post by Illbay » Mon Mar 17, 2008 3:41 pm

I have purchased and installed all the "Live Packs" from the Essential Instruments Collection Version 2. It seems that a great many do work, but a lot of them just don't. There's just absolutely no audio coming from those instruments. All of them (with some exceptions noted below) "drag and drop" onto the tracks, and look okay from that standpoint, but the non-functioning ones emit no sound.

I do not have an exhaustive list of what works and what doesn't, but it appears that NONE of the following work:

1. KEYS: Rock Organ (this one is strange in that it won't even "load"; if you try to drag-and-drop Rock Organ onto a track you get the "circle-slash" mouse cursor).
2. KEYS: All Harpsichords
3. KEYS: All Grand Pianos
4. KEYS: E-Piano Mk. 1
5. KEYS: Celeste (oddly, it sounds a single initial tone, then "quits")
7. GUITARS & PLUCKED: Harp Finger Picks (Light and "regular")
8. GUITARS & PLUCKED: 6 String Nylon Guitar Major Chords
9. GUITARS & PLUCKED: 6 String Nylon Guitar Minor Chords
10. GUITARS & PLUCKED: 6 String Nylon Guitar Major-Minor Chords
11. STRINGS: All Violin Solo
12. STRINGS: All Viola Solo
13. STRINGS: All Strings Ensemble
14. STRINGS: All Bass Solo
15. STRINGS: All Cello Solo
16. WOODWINDS: All of them refused to work
17. VOICE: All Mixed Choir
18. VOICE: All Female Choir

Bear in mind that I'm terribly new at this, and there MAY be a simple fix. I just don't know what it is.

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm not sure its relevant since I don't see any problems with any other applications, OR with the remaining Live Packs. I.e. if there are hardware conflicts the fault is in the software.

The computer is a homebrew AMD duo with 4GB of ram. The soundcard is an M-Audio Delta 44.

I finally heard back from Ableton support, and they suggest uninstalling and reinstalling. I'll be sure to check in here if that works.

Sometimes Anti-virus/Anti-piracy software may interfere with the installation of the EIC packs. I would recommend to temporarily turn it off when you reinstall the EIC Live packs after uninstalling them through Live´s preferences/livepacks.

Hi,

can you open the EIC2 LE Presets?

Please check if your EIC is unlocked in the Live Preferences/Products.

Which Live version do you use?

Have you tried going through each octave? As most of these instruments are mapped to specific amount of notes. Eg: your qwerty/MIDI keyboard may be set to C3-C4 and the instrument may be mapped to C1-C2. Worth a try?
