Need nu computer and need ur advice! :-)
Hello. I need your help
I am seeking for an ultra quiet computer. Atm Im leaning towards the Apple Mac Mini (1.8 model, 600 euros). I have read this is a very very quiet computer. And I want to delve into the macos again. Will this little box work well with the new Ableton. I mean, is it speedy enough to handle these modern tasks? My budget (this month) is around a 1000 euros. Of course I can save up until next month for a better one.
Any advice concerning this subject? Thx in advance!!
cheerssss

The ultimate quiet computer:
1. cut a hole in the floor
2. put monitor, keyboard, mouse on one floor
3. put computer on other floor

Well, that's a real practical suggestion; I'm sure the original poster really appreciates it.djastroboy wrote:The ultimate quiet computer:

I decided to spend money I didn't have and have a PC specially built for me for low noise.
Among a number of places that will do this for you, here are some links

http://www.sonica-x.com/
http://www.wootcomputers.com/
Full Compass whatever their website is
I ended up buying mine from CoolTech PC in Washington
(www.endpcnoise.com) and am completely satisfied with the value and the service.
My particular interest was in a rackmounted system; you can get tower configurations much more cheaply

Hey!
I have the Mac Mini 2 GHz. It's certainly quiet. And for my needs it's just dandy. I will probably do a memory upgrade soon enough, though. No real problems, just that I like running several apps at once - which puts a load on the virtual RAM right now.
I've just switched from 15 years of Windows. My latest comp being an HP laptop. No regrets what so ever.
And again: It's quiet.

No seriously, it's easy if your living situation allows it. Sometimes you can turn step 1 into:rasputin wrote:Well, that's a real practical suggestion; I'm sure the original poster really appreciates it.djastroboy wrote:The ultimate quiet computer:

1. Search for a hole.
In one place in my house I use a furnace return.
That's just the point. I did it. It cost zero money units, and really works.rasputin wrote: I decided to spend money I didn't have and have a PC specially built for me for low noise.
