I read somewhere that they use logic and garageband.
My old signature was pretty stupid, so I changed it to this one.

Garageband and Cubase SX....The latest REmix MAg that has The Chemical Brothers on the cover talks about them using microsamples, Garageband, Cubase Library sounds.

As far as basses go, Operator can give you those dry, cackling, monolithically hard Justice sounds. It may not be an exact clone but it's mean.

Not tryin' to shit on Justice or anything, I think they do some pretty decent stuff... but I smell a trend, and I think I'm gonna give it six more months. Maybe a year at best.

It is a thread about Justice and their sound, right? I came to said thread and voiced an opinion about that sound. I never said anything I wrote was supposed to be important.

ahlstrominfo:

Load up the "Double Cello" preset in Operator & start switching out wave types for the oscillators. When it's nasty enough, play around with the envelopes. That's a fast one to try.

Operator's presets are pretty limp, but the thing itself can shred yr speakers easily.
Just tell it to do what it doesn't think you want to do.

+1

Perfect description of Operator.

Also, if you haven't tried the lessons, do so. Some of them will give you a good starting off point, then follow John's advice above.
