non-electronic music thread

Post by Bunky Freaks » Tue Apr 24, 2007 4:15 pm

Hithere fellow live users,

I just came across a stunning performance of a piece of music that inspired me to this posting.
There are quite subjective borders to what counts as electronic music, like the question of the use of electronically amplified guitars, e-pianos or
synthesizers. But I would love to hear what kind of music you listen to that
you consider "non-electronic music", music that doesn't necessarily relate
to what you compose or play. Looking foward to your input!

I'm quite aware in what kind of forum I am posting this, so be considerate :)

here we go:

Phil

edit: title changed to THREAD. Its meant to be a thread, not a threat :)

I love playing simple Bartok pieces on the piano. haunting melodies, but he took a lot of inspiration from Hungarian folk songs.

Thanks for the reminder of how beautiful it can be. And schönberg too. Yum.

Hi Bunky Freaks,
I'm really grateful that you posted this link - I love this tune and never expected a youtube clip to exist with this on it!

It was featured last year on a mix by DJ Format and blew me away - speshly the organ riff in the break. Magic.

Yeh peeps here discuss all sorts of music. Fire away!

actually I am high tech about being low tech. I try to get a natural timber on almost everything I do. I would class this as "a music + technology" forum. IF THAT GETS COINED i WANT CREDIT
Computer games don't effect kids... If Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music

The song in the video sounds a LOT like Bob Marley's song African Herb Man.

Listening to Dio's Holy Diver album right now, fuck Tiesto.

I've been playing a lot of guitar lately with Live, all my gear runs through Live. I'll bang a beat into the mpc, turn up the drive on the guitar and rock out.

chugga chugga RAWK!!!!

hey thanks all for your response,
since music is such an endless field the great thing about it is, one can never stop to learn.
And it is not that i think all people here are just electronic musicians, often the cutting edge technologists have roots they rely on.
Which i find a very interesting because often these roots can be heard in your actual works, some more obvious some, less noticeable.

okey, got another gem before goin to sleep. its a cool combination: kids and funk.. bang on :)

Some of my bands music (the majority recorded by myself alone and with Addictive drums; at least until we get a decent recording solution) was done with Ableton. If you're interested:
