Axiom 25

Post by grizzler » Sat Mar 31, 2007 2:04 pm

I have a problem. My Axiom 25 8 trigger pads are not playing the notes correct for impulse. They are playing c1 etc not c3. Any ideas how i can change this. It means i cannot use the trigger pads for drum beats...

Thanks

Um, have you tried the user manual for your controller?

Axiom is gay! I had the same problem as you do, but i figured it out.

Connect and power on your Axiom, boot up Live. In Preferences, pick Axiom as your controller and do a memory "Dump". This will will erase your presets, and dump it into Live. After you do that, you can use Impulse with your pads.

Also, try to switch to Preset 17-20. I think P20 should work with pads. Try this first.

good luck to you.

P.s. I have the same piece of shit gear.

preset 19 is for remote controlling lives devices after you bring them forward and put the hand icon on them. dont forget about the global channel 1 and 16 switching....

*edit*

here this may be helpful.....its from here...

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/M- ... ssage/1764

Like anything when recording, there's several ways to do it. For
example, if you use Preset 19. The sliders should control volume
for ch's 1-8, the slider buttons mute/rec enable. The knobs are
already controlling the parameters of the selected device
(instrument or effect). You should only have to click once ot a
device to get the hand icon to indicate it's being remotely
controlled. From what I gather from the tutorial, you do have to
use the mouse to select a device for control.

Now, since there are often more knobs in Live than there are sliders
on the Axiom, this is where the pads chanage "banks". This is still
using preset 19 on the Axiom. If you look in the bototm left corner
of live while pressing the different pads, it will tell you what
it's controlling. For example, with the "phaser effect", pressing
pad C23 will control "Phaser Bank: Frequency Controls", and pad
C24 "Phaser Bank:LFO/S&H". It also indicates which control surface
it's coming, just in case you have multiple control surfaces.

With Preset 19, the controls are transmitting on CH16, and
therefore, the Global Channel has no effect.

It sounds like you're on Preset 20 right now. This preset (20)
allows you to use the Global Ch's 1-4 to control tracks 1-32 in
Live, and Global Ch 16 will enable the knobs to control the FX
parameters, and the pads will change the banks that the knobs
control. Again, you should see this info in the bottom left corner
of Live. Like you said, Global channel 16 disables the knobs, well,
sort of, they're now available to use the MIDI Remote Mapping (you
must have remote turned on from Live's prefs for Axiom 49 in 1).

Finally, where do you see "Axiom 2 offline"? The Axiom 49 in 2
simply refers to the MIDI input on the back of the Axiom. It may
be "offline" because by default, it's not turned on, and doesn't
need to be unless you have an external MIDI device connected to the
MIDI input on the back of the Axiom. I'm not sure if this is what
you're talking about though.

and then from here..

Banks are different than presets. Presets are complete
setups/configurations for the Axiom. The "banks" are different
groups of controls in Live. Some of Live's devices have more than 8
parameters than can be controlled. In this case, the parameters are
divided into banks. A bank is selected by hitting 1 of the pads
(This only works on Preset 19), pad 1 for bank 1, pad 2 for bank
2 . . . This is all straight out of the Axiom Tutorial Live Pack.
Page 3/8 has a good explanation of the different banks.

MIDI Channels. The Axiom's default global channel is 1. There's
a "Glob Chan" button on the Axiom. Press it to see what the global
channel is. Now, when the different controllers on the Axiom are
assigned to Ch 00 (instead of 1-16), said controller will transmit
on whatever the global channel is. Zone 1, the active zone on the
keyboard is assigned to Channel 00, so if you change the global
channel, your keys (pitch bend and mod wheels too) will follow.

With the Axiom as a "control surface" in Live, you're only switching
between presets 18, 19, and 20.

If you move a slider, you'll see that sliders # appear in the bottom
left of the Axioms display, press the "Chan Assign" button to see
what MIDI Channel is assigned to that controller.
