Goes without saying.
Thanks in advance.

Right, that probably would be best, but if not the case? Users/Library?
Thanks in advance.
Getting used to OSX. Handling VSTs and AUs is a little different, but in the long run better I guess. Just weird to put presets somewhere different than the plug.

I just put mine on the desktop for now. Does it matter? Do you think there's a performance factor, or pretty much just an organizational thing?
Oh btw AB - Check out a program named 'Witch' if you prefer alt-tab window switching. You can configure your window switching in OS X with this.
So far I'm pleased with the way Ableton is running under OS X, even with just basic Core Audio and integrated sound. Should be even better when I get the Emu 0404 USB. Biggest problem at the moment is that my QWERTY seems to be missing a few keys... ; p

I've put mine in /user/username/Documents/Ableton/Library.
In the Ableton folder I've made other subdirectories like DJsets, Songs,
and others.
I keep all the stuff I create in different apps under Documents/app'sname/*
Then on my external Hd I've the same Documents folder,
wich I backup with Chronosync,
http://www.econtechnologies.com/site/Pa ... rview.html
this keeps things clean and easy to backup.
Check out Chronosync, really a great backuptool.

My library is tossed in my Music folder. It doesnt really make a difference where it's placed, as long as you dont fuss with it once it's in place.

It's pretty much an organizational thing, the most important thing being leave it alone once it's there....OvertoneZero wrote:I just put mine on the desktop for now. Does it matter? Do you think there's a performance factor, or pretty much just an organizational thing?

Overtone, how is your transition going? Are you going to put XP on the Macbook pro?
I have just finished migrating stuff over from a dump of my old laptop's hard drive (after the laptop died), and will say that I love having both systems on one computer. What is really sweet is that I can access all of my sample files from the XP partition in LIVE on OSX, this saves a lot of HD space!
I also set it up so that iTunes in OSX is reading my iTunes folder on the XP partition, again saving space. Really sweet I must say.
It took a little while (2.5 days) to set up my system exactly as I envisioned it, but it is there now, and I am absolutely loving it.
Best,
AB

It could lead to issue's with file path's being lost.I have had prob's in past version's of live but maybe with the new set manager in 6 these prob's won't be as prevelant.OvertoneZero wrote:What happens if you move it? AB it's going very well... Yeah I put XP on a 30 gb BootCamp partition and I also created a 25gb virtual XP driver in Parallels. I figure I'll experiment with both and then wipe one out later if needed. Everything is going very well, I'm super pleased with Live in OS X, OS X in general, and the build quality of the machine.anti-banausic wrote:

I know what you mean. I am glad that I waited, well I would have waited even longer, but my PC died. Glad that I got this revision of the Macbook. The c2d processor absolutely s#$%s all over my old P4 3.2 GHz. I absolutely love this computer, and would dare to say that it is going to change my life.OvertoneZero wrote:AB it's going very well... XP is great as well. A few niggles, I put the computer to sleep in XP, and the trackpad got a little funky after waking, but all in all. Excellent stuff this.
