rendering a DJ Mix - Dropout always at the same time

Post by trancekid » Thu Feb 08, 2007 11:41 pm

my system: macpro 3.0, osx 10.4.8, live 6.0.3

I did a simple 60min DJ Mix in the arrange-view with only 2 audio-tracks and some EQ3 and volume automation on them.
on master I put a sonalksis compressor, precision limiter and sonalksis freeg.

everytime I try to render the whole mix on the master I get a 5 sec dropout always at 31:14min in the rendered file.

I thought it was the precision eq causing problems but even if I render it with no plug-ins on the master I get the dropout.

I also checked if there is some strange automation going on at this time of the mix but it's in the middle of a song and there is no automation happening.

as I said, I did only some eq and volume automation at beginnings and endings of songs and a tempo automation on the master.

how the f*** can I get around that dropout ?

I tried everything - no plug-ins, moving the whole arrangement, rendering in wav, aiff, 24bit, 16bit, restart the whole computer, save with different name,etc.... always dropout at 31:14 !!!
and no, it's NOT in the song running at 31:14 !!!

I did other mixes the same way and never had that problem.

so what can I do apart from doing the whole mix again ?

I would try the following:

1. Save the project.
2. Open a new project with no devices at all.
3. Browse to the project in the browser.
4. Drag the .als file into arrangement view.
5. Render the file.
6. If it works try adding devices in one by one.

Glad it worked! Nothing scarier than making a whole set and finding it may not work!
