parameter maximum value with knob turned halfways

Post by geo » Wed Dec 20, 2006 3:13 pm

Is there a way to have a value of a mapped to a midi rotary control parameter(e.g. filter frequency of an autofilter) extending all the way to its maximum value with the rotary controller turned only halfway clockwise?

I don't think so within Live.

If there are any options on your controller, that might be a way...

Or I suspect (but don't know for sure) that it could be possible via some other program running in conjunction, like Bidule or Max, to analyze and re-map the MIDI. (Double the value coming from the encoder, with a cap of 127)

??

sorry for using this thread, but i am looking for something similar - limit the values of a knob to 9 steps (0-8) so i can scoll through my 8 scenes plus master really fast. right now i use midiaid and a endless knob, but i have to pull it 8 steps for evry next track to switch to.
also it would be great if i could use the endless knob to start over on the first track once i ended up on the master track. does anybody know how i could do this?

would be great to know...
cheers, mark

Mostly this is your hardware resolution.... i know some friends who got the shits with their BCD's in Live for things like EQ etc, but you just edit it on the controller. We're all so used to Live doing everything we forget our gear has settings too :P

I don't think in this case it is... because it's not like you can tell your controller to go from 0-255 (I don't think)
