Windows Live and Ableton Live....court case?
Just seen that Windows are gonna use the Live tag line for a new set of 'web services'.....this could get annoying.

Maybe a court case is in order, I am sure Ableton's coffers can rival Microsoft's!
Gits, is all I can say, now when we say Live, people wont know if they are talking about the greatest music production suite in the world, or more costly bloat-don't-work-ware from MS...

Very good point. Try doing it the other way around. For example, try to imagine a music software suite called 'Office'... how long would it take for the black choppers to swoop down and take you away into the night?

Yep, I call it Ableton too... I find when recommending it to people that they often say "It's for playing live" and I go "no it's also the best for in the studio".
Some of these are professional producers that actually use or have tried the program but have never considered moving to it as their main DAW
if for some reason they would ever abandon the "Live" name that might not be a bad thing. For me, it makes no difference.
Ableton .......?

it's true but like Anubis was saying, the other way round : if Ableton was to release a program called OFFICE, a word microsoft hasn't invented, there would be most likeky some lawyers involvedradeon wrote:Rubbish. Ableton didnt invent the word Live. If ableton tried to take on microsoft it would be bye bye ableton. Dont be silly gentleman

shame they couldn't do it though. Apple records was so famous when they decided to take that name too, it was an obvious rip-off, but hard to prove.exper wrote:Just like how Apple records was trying to sue Apple Computers...come on now.

you're right there. maybe they tried ?djastroboy wrote:I disagree with the "Office" example.
There's OpenOffice & KOffice and they are doing just fine.
OpenOffice is even owned by Sun!
Microsoft would sue Sun for anything if they could!

Just take a look at the disclaimer from the Asio4All site and you'll see that there is real concern about straying into MS territory...
