Hey all,
For the last few weeks, I've been working on a new device for Live that decodes the SMPTE timecode and frame rate embedded in an audio track and displays it as it comes in. Just drop the device on your timecode track and you‘re good to go.
The device is available here: https://store.leolabs.org/l/ltc-display
I'm currently selling it for an introduction price of $15 instead of $25.
Features
Works with All Common Frame Rates
The decoder automatically detects 24, 25, and 30, as well as 23.976 and 29.97 FPS signals.
Pop-out Window
Open the timecode in a large floating window to always have it in sight.
Mira Support
Display the timecode on an iPad using the Mira app.
Copy to Clipboard
Easily copy the current timecode to your clipboard and use it in time-related notes or whatever you might need it for.

Just curious about what are the uses for this.
Also why it’s technically hard to translate it to a readable time format.

I wonder if this could be used to better sync Ableton with LTC incoming signals?
My most recent experience trying to sync Ableton via LTC, is that at best, you convert LTC to MTC, and then Ableton disables all Tempo mapping, which for my purposes is v unhelpful
It would be great to have Ableton natively accept incoming LTC, or otherwise allow MTC on an underlying 120bpm (what it defaults to), while still allowing the written song tempo / time sigs to be used.
