Immersive installation done in M4L

Post by LOFA » Fri Apr 27, 2012 10:19 pm

In case anyone is interested, here is a link to an immersive installation that I made using some routed plastic, LED's, custom 8.1 surround sound and a whole lotta max/live/m4l.

There's a video/demo and some code on my old website, ibrill.com, that I am going slowly porting over to my new drupal site (busy last week of grad school...). In it, I describe how I use mondomatrix LEDMatrix's with sparkfun usb-rs485 converters, rather than the specified mondomatrix displayduinos. In essence, I lose about half of the 32 bit range of color but I save about 60-70usd per 8x8 grid. Worth it, imo.

Rather than soldering, I assembled this with ribbon cable and IDC crimping through some parts from mouser.com. There are some more details on this page, for the first iteration of the project, TRANSMISSION I: http://ibrill.com/?page_id=441

Glad you like it ;)

TIme to catch up on some sleep...!

Let me know if you got any more questions. I am glad that people are digging my work. It's a whole other experience to be in the center of it though!
