foot controllers for ableton live
hi
i want to get a decent foot controller, and this is what i've seen on market...
-behringer fcb1010 (it looks like the best option for me but...behringer...you know...it doesn't sound "pro"...i sweared some years ago to be very far from these products...)
-roland fc200 or fc300
-boss fc50
-nobels mf1 (i dont know nothing about this one,but somebody told me)
-Showtec LightFoot 4 DMX
-make something by myself(there are some funny things on youtube and some diy pages)
what do you think is better to control primarily the looper?(because probably i will use the apc 20 to directly control the ableton live)
thanks

Beware, the Behringer is MASSIVE. I had one for a while, probably one of their better products, but just too big. But then, you do get a lot of pedals/footswitches.
If all you want footswitches for is the looper, maybe an APC40 would be better than getting the APC20, as the 40 has two footswitch inputs. Just a thought.
If only you'd asked this a few days ago, you could have got the NI Kontrol Rig footswitch for half price. It's a bit pricier than the ones you've mentioned now though. However, an older model could work.
Really, any can be made to work, I believe, as long as you have the right inputs on your interface.

Behringer fcb 1010 is a tank...It's true a little bit heavy and take space...but so what !!!! I have mind for almost 5 years and looks like new... The only bad side: serious learning curve to program.....

Oh yeah, the sound of behringer MIDI is so bad
Apart from the ADA8000, I wouldn't use audio related products from them if you have higher ambitions than distributing tracks to your friends. However, my BCR and FCB midi controllers are still going strong after all these years.

Re: foot controllers for ableton live
The Behringer FCB 1010 is probably one of the most powerful foot controllers out there. I almost regret selling mine. I say almost, because the thing IS a tank. It's sturdy, but it is needlessly heavy for a foot controller compared to other stuff out there. People that don't care about this sort of thing, obviously keep it in their studios, don't ever gig with it (or just locally), and certainly don't attempt air travel with it.
I've been using the Logidy UMI3, which in many ways is the opposite of the FCB 1010, small and light, but quite limited as it only has 3 buttons. I've realized the native button sequencing software that comes with it is not useful to me, but might be to others.
There was a Keith McMillen Softstep thread awhile back. Any reports from users on it's performance? Also the Pok controller looks interesting. There's obviously a variety of workflows for people using any controller, and a foot controller is no different, so I'm glad there are more being developed.

Though my wife and I hosted a musician traveler (through Couchsurfing) that was gigging and traveling with a Behringer foot controller. I felt kind of sorry for him to have to lug that around

I don't think that this one has been mentioned yet. Disadvantage: USB only. Advantage: Compact and inexpensive.
Re: foot controllers for ableton live
Yes, I mentioned it in my first post. Interesting, though: definitely not a disadvantage for me that it's usb.
Re: foot controllers for ableton live
I love my Moog multi pedal. Expensive though..
Re: foot controllers for ableton live
I'm using G-Lab GSC and convert Program Change messages into CC with MidiPipe on my Mac
Re: foot controllers for ableton live
Ableton could put out a dedicated fool controller, say with actual feedback from the Looper device. Now that would be cool
Re: foot controllers for ableton live
For complex work the LiquidFoot Pro is the one to get imho.

Too bad that you Rig Kontrol cannot control Guitar Rig and send MIDI controls at the same time. You have to switch between Guitar Rig mode and MIDI mode and you can't even switch modes from Rig Kontrol itself!Mister36 wrote:If only you'd asked this a few days ago, you could have got the NI Kontrol Rig footswitch for half price.
