[ot] is english the easiest language or something...?
I can speak a few words of a few languages. Yet it seems like so many other people can speak english really well along with being fluent in their own language.
Is it because english is super easy to learn?

I think it's mostly an economic thing. And who ever is running shit at the time. Like if Hitler succeeded we would probably all be speaking German. Or when China eventually pwns the world we will all speak Chinese.

^^ Yup, thats the truth. A.K.A. 500 years of cultural colonialism.
In no way is it the easiest - huge amounts of irregularities in pronunciation and conjugation.

Yeh, I guess. On the other hand, you don't need to worry about which gender a table or a bandsaw is.Pitch Black wrote:^^ Yup, thats the truth. A.K.A. 500 years of cultural colonialism.

Honestly I think it depends on which language you start with.

Dubbed vs. undubbed...
I was pretty good at English by the time I was 6. I played loads of Nintendo, watched loads of BBC and nothing is dubbed here on TV.
Go to Denmark and you'll find that even the drunk bums almost have an oxford English accent.
Go to the south of France and be prepared to hear the phrase "A liittle biit" a lot whenever you ask if somebody speaks English.. Dubbed vs. undubbed, it makes a world of difference.

I've read somewhere that Spanish (and it's variants) are easiest to learn...
Re: [ot] is english the easiest language or something...?
+1, except it is a pretty easy language... not the easiest, but easy compared to most others, spanish is also very, very easy, nordic and eastern european languages like, finnish, hungarian, slovak, etc. are way, way harder, much more complex grammar (absolute no comparison to german or english, or french, etc.), and a way more difficult pronunciation as well. also asian is a tough nut to crack...Pitch Black wrote:^^ Yup, thats the truth. learning languages is important.. because you take a step towards other cultures I think..
.. I'm currently hosting group Arabic lessons in my apartment...
very easy to learn for a Hebrew speaker.. both have many words derived from Aramaic...
on another note
I've also read this essay that suggests modern Hebrew is basically German(Yiddish) syntax with words from the Old Hebrew writings...
if that's the case ..learning German is supposed to be pretty easy for me as well..
now I only need more time...
