apc40 VS. Launchpad
I like the launchpad having more buttons, but then I would need some kind of controller for all the tracks levels, transport controls, etc.
What would be a good combination for this? Or do I just skip the lauchpad and get it all in one on the APC?
I also noticed the Launchpad doesn't have an obvious way to stop clips/scenes like the APC does, am I missing something here, how do you stop stuff, by hitting the button again? When I do that with a y other controller pad/button it restarts the clip.
Thanks,

Tone deft told me that in session mode you could assign buttons to other parameters, such as "stop all clips".

neither is complete without the other.
Re: apc40 VS. Launchpad
Launchpad naturally assigns a Stop All Buttons or Track by Track in Mixer Mode.
However you can map whatever it's possible in Ableton Learn Mode using User1 and User2
mode on the Launchpad.
Of course if you need generic and instant capability of tweaking FX/Instruments Parameters
and Transport buttons, probably APC40 is a better choice.
I'm using Launchpad in conjunction with a Behringer BCF2000 in Mackie Mode so I got
all splitted in two controllers. The APC 40 was too big for my desk and it didn't have
motorized faders, which I love.

Indeed, the unmotorized faders of the APC make it unusable for me.

The cheapest solution would be a nanoKontrol with Myralfur's script. Of course, no motorized faders, endless encorders with LED rings and all that stuff.

+1, i know a few people who have a launchpad, nanoKontrol combo and are very happy with it. and you still don't need a PSU, total win in my book.Gab wrote:The cheapest solution would be a nanoKontrol with Myralfur's script. Re: apc40 VS. Launchpad
There are stop buttons on the mixer page which I don't like, so I simply leave every 8th scene blank which also helps with knowing where you are, and you still have 16 more launch buttons than on an APC I have a Nocturn and a BCF but I think in the future for Liveshows 2 or 3 or 4 Launchpads each set to a page would be cool. Encoders always feel a bit rubbery due to latency and the Launchpad way of adjusting controllers and levels is really quick & ruff I like it a lot!
You know the 909 has only a couple of sounds, 1 velocity level (plus "accent") but you have all these buttons in front of you and it's quick to work with!

I guess that's true if you absolutely need instant access to trigger 100+ clips.Slightlydelic wrote:neither is complete without the other.

Re: apc40 VS. Launchpad
Thanks guys, that NanoKontrol looks like the business with a Launchpad and the price is sure right. Still $150 or so cheaper than the APC too.SubFunk wrote:+1, i know a few people who have a launchpad, nanoKontrol combo and are very happy with it. and you still don't need a PSU, total win in my book.Gab wrote:The cheapest solution would be a nanoKontrol with Myralfur's script. Re: apc40 VS. Launchpad
launchpad + bcf2000 = best value killa combo.
add a korg pad kontrol and novation sl25mk1 and its heaven.
well i'm speaking for myself actually and by wednesday should have the last link in the chain (launchpad). a novation nocturn would be a good bet instead of bcf and sl25 mk1...

Re: apc40 VS. Launchpad
As an owner of a padkontrol who is thinking if this is really neccesary if I purchased the launchpad...
What are you using the padkontrol for?
The velocity sensitive buttons and touchpad are a bonus if you are using it to control a drum rack ... but what else.
