my beta expired on 8/21 in the US

Yes, and the site doesn't seem to have the new version (presumably 8.1b6) posted yet at http://www.ableton.com/81beta. At least I couldn't find it there. Also, when I tried to download the new MFL beta, the old one (Max5_40390) downloaded. It appears that the new one hasn't been posted yet.

b6 is available now. It works with the current version of MFL so you don't have to download a new MFL.
