If you're waiting for someone to ask whether or not there will be an educational discount for the waffles, don't look at me.

from the Akai professional website:
# Comes with Ableton Live Akai Professional APC40 Edition software
What are the functionalities of this piece of software? Is it a bare-bone edition of Live?

You will be able to upgrade from Live 7 Akai Professional APC Edition to Live 8 or Live 8 Suite at the same pricing as any Live LE to Full or Live Lite to Full upgrades.
Best,
Jesse
Thanks Jesse!

@ eusebio:
I read somewhere Ableton Live Akai will only have 8 tracks to work with (+ some other limitations on the fx like aux channels etc).
I'm not 100% sure of this info.

Hi, don't know if this question has been asked already but i honestly don't want to go through all the 30 pages.

I was wondering if there will be a gig bag for this. If so, it would be great if it had a poket to fit the laptop too like the novation bag

There is one. And there is a pic of it---but, sorry, you will have search for it--that's what the search is for/ or check the Abe's shop.

If this is the one you meant http://www.ableton.com/pages/shop/more_ ... to_cart_ri then i don't think is gonna fit since the size of the bag is W37,0 H30,0 D12,0 cm, and the apc40 is W42,9cm H6,7cm D33,4cm slightly bigger than the bage...

There's no other bag on the abe's shop and doing a little search here i didn't find anything...

No, it's this (sorry, don't have the actual link, but it's made by ableton--maybe it's not available yet) :

I believe you may be able to--all knobs can be remapped via Live's Midi learn function in Ableton--I haven't used those particular plugins, but if you are using them in Live, I'm assuming it should be pretty easy. I believe you can control up to 64 parameters via the knobs ( 8 knobs x 8 banks)

Also, From the Akai Pro FAQ:

Can I use the APC40 with other programs?

The APC40 was designed to be a controller for Ableton Live. That said, you can use it in other programs but you will have to manually map it out in the other programs. Akai Pro will not be issuing any MIDI control templates for other DAWs and programs. If you do manually map things, a DAW with the learn feature in MIDI mapping mode will be easier to map than one without. You cannot change the MIDI note numbers and CC numbers that the APC40 is assigned to.

The best way to control plug-ins with the APC40 will be to configure the plug-in parameters in the order you want and then use the device control section of the APC40.

Is that the same model as the ableton one they used to be selling? If not, anyone know what model of backpack that was. I'd like to get one but I guess they are no longer selling the ableton one.
