Yes...it does sometimes, and always at the worst times, so I go for some cereal...

this isn't a wind up right ? All software crashes ....
Live is pretty good and more stable than most but there have been the odd quirks here and there over the 3 years I've been running it. Public beta testing helps, Steinberg software i.e. Cubase, is usually to be avoided on first release as they don't publice beta test and usually 3 or 4 minimum bugfixes/updates are needed to run it stably.

Had 3 crashes with Live 8 in the last two weeks. Once playing Truepianos AU - just crashed mid-plonk, once playing a layered patch in Omnisphere, and once messing about with Tension using the mouse. That is approximately 3 more crashes than I ever had with 7 in similar circumstances....

vsts and aus are responsible for the majority of crashes in Live and other software in my experience.
Usually if you let both vendors know, a fix will occur within a few weeks.

Changing somehow the structure caused 99% of my Live crashes.
As I don't do this on stage I feel somehow secure. In fact Live NEVER crashed during one of live shows...

Don't want to feed the necro but
This is usually true but Live 8.01 crashes the whole time with no vsts loaded, the most unstable version of Live I've ever used, including betas.

Sure. I crashed the L8 beta quite alot (that's a good thing, helps to minimize bugs on release) but Live 6.0.1 and 7.0.1 both had some issues with me, especially the Live 6 release. Both had cleared up within a couple of bugfixes completely. I haven't upgraded to L8 yet, because I can't afford it right now (if they hadn't taken away educational upgrade discounts I would havebeen there already).
Of course, with all those gazillion hardware/software combinations out there, some people will experience some issues and Live isn't perfect - but IMO, due to the extensive beta testing and their own alpha and private testing, Live is usually less of a problem software than many others I've used.

On Live 6 here, and the only time I get crashes is when I push it to the limit by asking too much of it. Like when I've got 30+ tracks running, all with eq and various other plugs as inserts and returns...and then I try and load up a massive Kontakt bank or something.
Cue beachball of doom followed swiftly by inevitable crash.
At least if you're a compulsive saver then Live restores projects very well after such events.

for some reason, 7.0.14 crashes when i try to import mp3s... but 7.0.10 doesn't (with the same files). so that's what i'm using. very weird though.
