are you kidding me? i didn't ask how the apc handled open/closed group tracks, pertaining to view/faders  i get that it will adjust the faders/view for open/close... that isn't my question. what i asked is will the apc trigger group master clip slots... i assume so, but my alphatrack doesn't, currently, only midi/key commands, and the mouse do. help out, or stfu.

I think that the EQ Kill switches would be a nice touch on the APC40...

Do you think that you could freeze the top 3 rows on the scene matrix to be fixed...Green On and Red Off For example and use the bottom 5 rows to continue navigating throught the set,.. Also i'm assuming this would be something to be created using MAX...

Or is the an easier way using the 'out of the box' setup that i'm missing??

Sorry, but I haven't read the entire thread. Looking at the unit, it doesn't appear that there are A and B crossfader assignments on it. Is it possible to make A/B assignments? and if so, how?

Thanks a lot

X fader assignment is why i came back to this post...good timing...

i don't see it on the surface. Maybe with Max? it would be nice to have a quick modification for X fader assignment that can be done rapidly in performance.

Havn't needed this myself but I just did a quick test for the MIDI mapability of the Track X-Fade selector.

I had no problems mapping a button to toggle the A-B bus.

Not real sure this is what you wanted though ?

the highest point about the APC to me is the exclusiveness, the more or less simplicity, and finally the LED feedback..(a touch screen would be a nice replacement for the button matrix, but that can wait a few years *smile*)

the wish previously discussed, was regarding APC's lack of a hardwired/exclusive parameter (another led button) to designate an A or B crossfader assignment to each channel strip.

examples of what that might look like:

-two led buttons (near the mute solo record).. that would function just like the software display in Live's session view.

or

-a three setting rotary function: left for A, middle for no assignment and right for B (If APC can do that now it would likely be found, to the right, in the knob section of the device. And i would be quite satisfied with that.)

Looks like it is going to be a dyn-o-mite device, but i know the following models are going to be even better.

A standardized configuration on a controller provides a common skill to develop among many people...but may get boring and repetitive.
A controller that is custom built, configured and "one of a kind" is special, and the source of the inventions that one day become standard, but they mostly come and go and aren't too shareable in a situation where many performers share equipment.
Each one has their benefit, and drawback...

APC is the right idea because it grabs from both as well as I've seen.

Out of the box, it is ready to go..then MAX seems to be able to provide customization with great dexterity...hopefully stability too.

that's my "haven't used it yet" perspective for now anyways..

In my opinion Livid’s Ohm64 is better & more flexible than APC 40.

- Wooden or aluminum body
- Hand made in USA
- Fully class-compliant, no drivers
- Open-source, customizable MIDI talkback: when you’re ready to customize just how those LEDs light up, there are included open source tools and fully programmable MIDI mapping.
- Bonus: it comes with a powerful, full-featured VJ app in the box, Cell DNA

So f**** awesome they've upgraded the ohm!!! but i think the price will be a problem... again.

Can the APC40 delete a clip ?

Or do I have to go back to my keyboard for that ?

I don't think so. How often - in a live situation - do you delete clips? 8O
