OT: Not enough shit jobs for the Mexicans

Post by beats me » Wed Aug 27, 2008 10:37 pm

First I have nothing against Mexicans, or immigrants, or even illegals working in this country. They aren't taking jobs I want to do anyway. And yeah they are getting paid under the table and not paying taxes but we get taxed double illegally anyway, so good for them. Somebody forgot to tell the government the civil war is over and they need to stop taking taxes out of our paycheck. And even with their none taxed income they still aren't making as much as me. Anyhow.....

I saw on the news that Mexico is getting a huge influx of people returning to their country partly due to our crap economy and there not being enough shit jobs available for them to do. This in turn is freaking out the Mexican government because their social services can't handle the load. To all that I say....HA!

Let's just annex Mexico already and give Florida to Cuba. We all win!

weak dollar probably doesn't help.

there are more countries than Mexico south of the border, take a look at a map. I've talked to a lot of latinos in SF, often they mention they get pissed when everyone assumes they're from Mexico.

we've all had jobs getting paid under the table.

there are Mexicans who can do either of our jobs.

do I need to google all the rich white people who don't pay their taxes?

a good friend of mine is a lawyer in SF, he works for illegals to ensure they are not paid under the table and get the proper wage/overtime for their work. if you hire an illegal in SF you have to pay them properly!

here around me they use fake SS # so they actually do pay taxes.

Right, and the Snow Mexicans up in Alaska.

I know all too well the "I'm not Mexican" battlefields BUT this news report was about Mexico and Mexicans so I wasn't clumping the browns into one pot here.

The funny thing is the news is trying to spin part of it into the INS doing a bang up job deporting people. No they aren't. Maybe a slightly better job since 9/11 but the bulk of this has to do with lack of jobs here and them telling their friends and family still in Mexico not to come up because it sucks balls.

Everything including gas prices has to do with the weak dollar so it almost doesn't need to be mentioned.

in this country, mexicans work the hardest for the least. when people "debate" the immigration issue it makes me sick. every argument assumes some sort of entitlement. by what virtue do you deserve a job over someone else? the fact that someone in your very recent family history had guns and took land from brown people? call it what it is.

if your boss wants to save some money and your job is threatened by someone who speaks little english with no education, then you've made some very poor life choices.

if mexico is getting an influx of ex-mexicans, it probably has a lot to do with organized harassment by such men, sensing a tight economy and knowing what business owners do in such times.

A few months back I poured a 4' X 6' X 2" cement slap in the backyard. It took me about 3 hours but about half way through and for the next week it felt like somebody had dropped a bus on me. I thought, damn, some migrant worker gets paid $10 an hour to do this shit 40+ hours a week. No condescension meant in that statement and nor am I insinuating it's nothing but illegal Mexicans or migrants doing this kind of work, but they're doing plenty of it. Most of us whiteys would burst into flames after about 6 hours of working a field.

Most college educated "professionals" sitting in their air conditioned offices couldn't handle this kind of work. I know of at least one of these assholes who threw a fit when his corporation made it mandatory for his department to do volunteer work for Habitat For Humanity saying "I didn't go to college to do this grunt work". And he did got to do it during the work week and still paid. Fuckin' douche.

PS If I worked in the construction industry I might have a different opinion on migrant workers depending on what field I worked in.

Please define what you mean by, "the hardest"

You mean the hardest manual labor correct?

because there's plenty of people who study some extremely difficult subjects and end up working 60 to 70 hours a week for less than they should

A lot of doctors who've spent half their lives studying subjects none of us could possibly comprehend - then they work in some public hospital 60 hours a week and I bet they complain about not making enough

lawyers who spend days and nights on cases just to prove someone innocence's

the software developers who bust their asses to bring you all the cool things you enjoy on your PC or MAC - and if it doesn't work...

So please be a little more specific when you talk about how hard Mexicans work and how little they get paid

it's all very relative ;)

hell, check out these presidential candidates flying from city to city giving speeches, kissing babies and making friends all with a smile EVERY SINGLE DAY - one of them is going to loose. Tell that guy about working hard and getting little

All the top 5 % of the economy have excellent accountants so they are paying less taxes than they should. Warren Buffett pays less in taxes because he is using every damn loophole in the book. If the middle class have to dish out tax money, so should the wealthy.

Or the Electronica composer who has launched thousands of clips but doesn't get any recognition until they acquire 300,000 friends on myspace.
