truth. i think its time to face the fact that apple is now a phone/walkman company that happens to make computers on the side.smutek wrote:Leopard is the worst thing I've ever experienced from apple.
some leopard highlights for me:
10.5.1 update reset user permissions for ANY modified file, so i had reset any time a file was modified. e.g. every time mail was opened resulted in me having to reassign access.
after a drive crash i went to grab some files from time machine to work on another machine, only to find that a time machine backup can only be accessed from the machine it was created with. wtfbbq?!?
my latest fiasco is that mail refuses to send outgoing mail regardless of the settings.
at least i'm one of the lucky ones who hasn't had any audio problems.
double post..

Macbook 2ghz c2d, 2gb ram, osx 10.5.5, live 8.0.8, fw-1884, ms20, x-session, 2xLP
what?!?!? that's lame as shit if that's the case. i figured for sure that time machine was more flexible. so if my hard drive bites the dust (:knocksonwood:) i can't use my time machine back ups to get me back where i was on a new hard drive?scientist wrote: after a drive crash i went to grab some files from time ma chine to work on another machine, only to find that a time machine backup can only be accessed from the machine it was created with. wtfbbq?!?

its computer specific. so you can restore to a replacement hard drive (i did), but you need to boot from install discs to make it all work. (i wonder what suckers who bought that macbook air thing will do when their drive dies?).nate_D wrote:what?!?!? that's lame as shit if that's the case. i figured for sure that time machine was more flexible. so if my hard drive bites the dust (:knocksonwood:) i can't use my time machine back ups to get me back where i was on a new hard drive?
what is not possible is accessing any time machine'd files from another computer, which is of course beyond stupid. fucking fuck apple...did i write that already?
