Syncing MC-202 to Live via Kenton Pro2000
Syncing MC-202 to Live via Kenton Pro2000
Anyone done it?
I've got MIDI clock going out of my RME multiface to the Pro-2000, which is connected via DIN Sync to the 202. It stops and starts with Live but seems to be locked to a few bpm slower than the tempo in Live :-/
Is there something I might have missed here??
I can see the MIDI light flash when I start live, but nothing after... maybe it needs the clock to be sent regularly?
My 202 has been modified, could it be something in the mod that's affected the sync or tempo?
Any hints much appreciated!

I used to have an MC202 and I always had to put it into song mode I think for it to lock.
I could be wrong but thats what I recall
Midi clock is sent continiously
Does the tempo control on the 202 have any effect when its running via Live?
It's been a while since I had it so if I'm way off the mark I apologise.

If I still had mine I'd mess about with it.
Most of the time I just triggered midi notes via the gate/cv. (via a Kenton)
The 202 was always slow at responding to notes and so some are modified to bypass the sequencer straight to the synth section........I reckon thats what your modifacations are (extra gate/cv sockets?)
Do you really need to run your sequences that you programmed into the 202?
It could be a midi interface thing.
You may have to try it with another if possible to eliminate that as a problem.
I'm stumped otherwise.
Try asking anyone on the forum if they have problems sync'ing up pre-midi gear with Live (TR606 etc).

there has to be a way of syncing it to live. being that I just bought my 202 I'd love to hear what that way is.elemental wrote:thanks,
I tried again, no joy
I just wanted to use the accents and portamento in the sequence for acid-type lines.... thinking of getting an analogue sequencer anyway, just wanted to explore this option aswell.
Oh well...
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
my mc202 synchs fine with live
I use the mc202 as a sequencer then put in it play mode and enable cycle and
Im now using a bitsream 3x to generate din synch tempo.
before i was using a tr707 as master clock and that was controllling live with the tr707
I would also recommend you make your patterns on the 202 atleast 4 measures long.
if you are sending cv/gate into the standard mc202 cv gate inputs there will be a delay due to its weird quantiazing (sp).
there is a mod that bypasse this.
Does the kenton work in reverse?
Can you control Live's tempo form the 202.
Otherwise I would recommened a korg KMS-30 as a great midi/ synch converter
