Best Synth i have EVER heard

Post by the girl next door » Sun Jun 17, 2007 8:30 pm

I have listened/Checked out alot of Synths in my time..And have been looking for a Synth that does the best electro house Bass..Till now i used the Minimoog VSTi..But while on Holiday/Vacation here in Washington DC i checked out a music store and tested a Studio Electronics Omega8 (8Voices) oh my fucking God !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is the thing i have been looking for..I will be getting one very soon..
Does anyone know which artists use it ???

Just about every single pop and hiphop studio/producer on earth owns one. Studio electronics is a good company thats been around forever. You dont need to blow $$$ on an Omega 8 (Now Called C.O.D.E) if thats the sound your looking for. A studio electronics maxed out ATCXi Quad (same company) sounds just as rough and you'd save $1,200. I checked out the ATCXi on that link and saw it only has one voice which isnt enough..Also when i was in the shop i checked out the SE-1X which didnt even touch the Omega8 in sound..I think i will still go for the Omega8

I love that fat and gritty electro house sound! Are there some more affordable expanders that compete with the big beasts? Never heard one but for example the Evolver or I dunno anything else. Is there a VST comparison or does it have to be true analog?

I really have to download Predator... I love Albino... and keep thinking of picking up Blue... I suppose I should save the money and at least check out the demo for predator! :)

Don't know about Moog being done to death... but there certainly are far too many vsti remakes of it...

I guess one of my p[roblems with analog synths like the code - once you go past a certain price, then multi-voice modulars with expensive digital poly control modules start to become attractive - and give you a hell of alot more room for sound shaping to your own taste.

There is just nothing like the freedom of sound designing on a modular.
