help me, my pc is going to explode

Post by even » Thu Jun 01, 2006 8:48 pm

or catch fire at least.

i'm having ultra weird problems with my pc. firstly there's this strange crackle/hissing-like noise coming from my power cable. it's not constant and it usually appears when i jiggle the power cable but not only. then there are random shutdown. and i don't mean the proper, shtudown with the 'windows is shutting down' screen. it's all of the sudden and instant. like i would press the reset button. just now i had 3 of these shutdowns folowed by a blue screen taht said:

STOP c000021a FATAL SYSTEM ERROR

the windows logon system process terminated unexpectadly with a status of 0x00000000 (0x00000000, 0x00000000) the system has been shut down.

well after this message after each boot up it just freezes. mouse won't move, task manager won't come up.

i'm writing this after having booted in safe mode, and yet another mega weird problem. i can't play any music in any player. winamp, itunes, foobar, w media player, quick time, real player...

what the fuck is going on?!?!1

oh, it might be worth mentioning, about that 'windows logon' error that earlier this afternoon, outpost, my firewall allerted me that some 'window logon.exe' thingy was trying to connect to the net. i chose to block it. has this got anything to do with it?

is my computer totally and utterly fucked? and if so, can i do soemthing to fix it?

I've had instant black screen shutdowns on my laptop--the problem was heat due to a build-up of dirt and fibers on my heatsink, making the fans inadequate. if your fans are always on from startup, then this is probably your problem. I've had to take my heatsink out and clean it once or twice a year, and it definitely solves the problem bigtime.

i think i'm narrowing in on the problem.

there's this kaspersky alert that says it's found some dangerous onjects.

when i choose to delete the one in this picture, it's the moment my pc crashes and goes to bluescreen

ok, here it is again.

should i allow it?

I'd do a clean install at that point.

edit : No don't allow this kind of stuff to connect !!! 8O

Lets start with basics.

Make sure the plug is wired correctly and the wires are tightened into the plug posts tightly.

Then.......have a look at the CPU heatsink/Fan.....is it sufficient for the CPU your running?

Then my best thing to suggest is this.

Load up task manager (ctrl+alt+del), press it once only (twice might reboot the pc)....task manager will appear, click the processes tab, check which processes are running....especially explorer (not ieexplorer)....it should be on a stable amount 20k etc....if it appears to be increasing or sitting nearer 40-70k or even 110k then something could be wrong which is one reason you may be getting the blue screen of death......if this appears to be the case (the explorer thing) then load up the XP cd in windows. Even if it's not an explorer thing load up the XP cd anyway. If the cd drive is on autoplay it should bring up the xp cd, under windows the cd should give you an option to repair windows....try that and get back to me.

Sorry just seen your new post, perhaps load into safe mode and then try deleting that trojan, THEN repair windows as I mentioned.

Also....get a decent firewall.....I don't trust Microsoft use zonealarm....I think it's still free...and way better.

Winlogon is a legit windows process, but in your case it has been compromised and is now trying to open backdoors into your computer.

If you want to try something download "spybot seek and destroy", it's a free spyware remover. Look it up on Google, install it, update it, scan your computer.

You can also look up for "Hijack this", it's also a spyware remover but you will have to decide for yourself what you want to remove. It will basically all processes hidden or not that run on your comp. Since it lists legit stuff too, just make sure you remove only the bad guys.

Finally you should find out how this stuff got into your computer in the first place, usually you activate it yourself.
