Need Urgend Help For a Friend, Please...

Post by SubFunk » Mon Feb 27, 2006 4:41 pm

hi abletonians,

i am posting this here, because i know that here are some really experienced PC users around!!!

i am a hardcore Mac head, and i have a friend who has problems with his new m-audio audiophile usb soundcard on his IBM notebook: IBM R40, centrino, pentium M 1.4 HGz, 768 MB RAM, USB 2.0

he does not use any audio software, he is just a music freak listening with he wrote me:
i am using winamp, with MADplugin( upsampling to 24bit),
winamp - beacause i can control winamp with my mobile via bluetooth to music.
he wrote me also:
supasound (05:20 PM) :
so, my problem
supasound (05:21 PM) :
first one: too many devices have the same IRQ and sometimes my usb soundcard switches off, i do not know why
supasound (05:21 PM) :
i hope changing IRQs may solve this problem
supasound (05:22 PM) :
second one:
when i switch off the light in the kitchen, soundcard sometimes stops playing
the second problem he has sounds more like a power issue in his house, thou...

he uses the original m-audio driver... which i believe is asio2,

i recommended already to disable the onboard card, but i don't have any clue about the problems with PCs... is any of you PC tweakhead gurus are able to help???

thanks so much in advance.

There is one thing in windows he should check: In control panel, system, then device manager, he'll see his USB devices. choosing properties, he should see some power option, one being "let windows mange power for that device and automatically turn it of bla bla", that option should be off...
I'm not in front of a PC right now so info is quite unprecise, but he should find it.

btw, you can tell you're using a PC now, we won't beat you for that ! 8O :D

Cheers,
amo
