Arrangement window wishes

Post by Angstrom » Fri Feb 24, 2006 11:33 pm

Wishes:
  • To be able to fold away the track info stuff on the right hand side.
  • To be able to temporarily disable the automation on any, or all, tracks
  • To have a mixer of some kind available for viewing
  • To have multiple envelopes visible on each track
  • To be able to crossfade audio parts on one track
  • To have an envelope for Time signature

those are just the ones I needed today, I'm sure others have their own Arrangement wishes.

Quite agree with those ! even if I didn't need them today ! :)
Just tell me, only the first point I'm not sure about, not talking about things that can be hidden from the view menu right ?

Cheers,

wow, I didn't even know they were in there! I use the show/hide icons to hide stuff in session .. and there aren't any in Arrangement. :? 8O

But, Hooray !
because I hate that stuff cluttering up my screen when I dont need it

But really, what a daft place to put the hide function!
After using a great peice of GUI design in session with the show/hide icons, the exact same function in arrange Ableton uses a completely different and much worse method. I'm not suprised I missed that one!

Change that first wish to
  • show/hide icons in Arrangement .. the same as for session!

Yes please. This is the one feature I really miss.

Another one
  • Midi Edit in place - shift midi notes around in the actual arrange window
what this means is you can work on two or more midi sequences at once. If you write syncopated music, most of the groove comes from having one instrument 'bounce off' another.
It's very hard to do that by opening and closing separate midi edit windows, whereas it's easy if you can edit two midi sequences side by side.

Yes, I´m with you, thats exactly what I don´t like in Live´s arrangement. Especially when you already have a few tracks unfolded and need to open clip view to edit things it gets cluttered and you loose visual focus on what you wanted to do, especially if you don´t have a huge and high resolution screen.
For me the arrangement in Tracktion is much better for my workflow, if they just could hire this guy to improve the ui and look how good the pianoroll in Fruity works I would come back to Live for arranging, but for the moment I´m not happy with it.

Also just found out that you can hide the mixer in arrangement!

Greetings
