Do someone know if the new browse by similarity also work for external samples? My question is, could I be able to quickly find my Maschine samples by similarity and not having to use it through Battery 4? I much prefer the drum rack
It works with any sample shorter than 60 seconds in your User Library.

Hmm Does that mean I could, in theory, do away with opening LoudCloud and search for ‘my’ samples in Ableton browser instead ?

There's a "User" filter that collects all the User Library content.

Yeah the new browser, especially that they added in some AI similarity search makes this upgrade a no brainer to me. That and improvements to sample based instruments etc.

I have a question about the browser ... I see that there are categories for the tags ... can we remove some categories from the view ? Or even remove all categories and only show my custom categories ?

Of the few videos I have seen on youtube on Live 12 they never really go in dept to show the new features .... :/

You can create Tag Groups and Tags and completely ignore the builtin ones.
Then, in each sidebar Category, you can hide Filter groups, independently for each Category.
And lot of things work dynamically.
That would be quite long to provide a more in-depth answer, but just remember that the customisation goes very deep, and you can always make sure you're not annoyed by things you don't want to see.
This thing's powerful

I also have a question about the 12 browser.
I have most of my samples analyzed with mixed in key and they have bpm, key and energy tags. Can live 12 read these tags?

No, you would need to create your own tags in Live for that.

It's unusual that Live isn't pulling in the bpm of the mp3, which would be from the ID3 tag. I seem to remember that previous versions of Live have grabbed that tag and stored it in the Database even though its never been exposed via a UI. I'm surprised that's not one of the standard filters.

Thanks. Damn, that's a bummer. Why should they do this? Tagging of audio files is not a new thing.
How are the tags saved? Inside the files? Are they readable by other software?

Pretty sure tags are only for Ableton and stored in the Live database.

Aren't they in those .asd files that Live create for each sample ?
