How do I separate a kick and a snare from a wav loop?

Post by Antonius95 » Mon Jun 19, 2023 8:35 am

Dear forumites,
I am writing to ask for your advice.
I'd like to separate a kick and a snare from a loop for proper mixing. The loop consists of the kick, the snare and some other percussion. Didn't find the best solution using some techniques. I separated a kick, for instance, making two audio lines for it, one of which is crunchy (a transient of the kick), and another one is to give it more of a bass tail (using eq). The problem comes mostly when I'm trying to separate the snare, because during its sound there are some frequencies from a percussion audio track (I'm trying to make the percussion audio track using eq as well, remaining high frequencies), which doesn't sound nice because of the phase (invert can't help me with that as well. Looking forward for your replies. Thanks in advance!

One very handy Live feature is the Convert to midi one. Try it, you’ll then be able to select a snare sample that fit your need, or even create one with a synth.
