Bought a launchpad in 2008 after watching a video on how it all worked and it came with Live Lite (or similar) then used that to upgrade to Live 8 Suite in 2010 when I joined the forum.

Learned about it from bt (Brian Transeau) back in the day. I remember when they first added midi clips. So probably just a little before then. Was a good time to pick it up, as it was less overwhelming when I was able to focus on just learning about warping and audio. I can’t for certain recall what year this would be haha.
Edit: okay, probably around ‘02, ‘03. As I remember being excited when EQ3 came out and I no longer needed to rely on the EQ8 for dj style mixing. Though it didn’t take long to realize that EQ3 might not have been the perfect choice still haha

After meeting Urs Heckman in a bar in Berlin in 2004. He brought along an Ableton emplyee and the guy was so dedicated I thought it would be worth trying even though at the time at v3 it did't have VST instrument or AU support. Urs was badgering him abut this, and two months later they announced version 4 with virtual instrument and AU support. Good tight lip on that guy.
I bought Live after entering a remix contest that included a discount to Live. I don't think I ever finished that song?

I joined 10 Januari 2017, and just before that, I bought the Push2. Upgraded to 9 suite soon. Before that I used Cubase for 20 yrs, but seeing Push2 in action on a youtube movie changed my musical life completly. I have to say, I never looked back at the past and Cubase.......
For what I do nowadays Live is so much easier, and Push2 makes it even better!

Going on 14 years.
Didn’t realize it’s been that long.
Good times, mostly.

I started with Live 4, used it for several years and loved it, and then game development grabbed pretty much all my spare time for 8 years. I recently started writing music again, and my first foray was with Logic and a Maschine (this was last July, I bought a Maschine on an impulse while visiting Berlin). But I felt, well, Logic's awesome but I should really play with Ableton, I used to love that so much. Started it up a couple of weeks ago and oh man...I'd forgotten how brilliant it is! I'm so happy to be back with it, it's just so intuitive and it doesn't get in the way when ideas are flowing. There's no looking back now, time to upgrade my ancient copy.
Funny to come back to this board - so many names I recognise. Angstrom, Tarekith, Machinesworking...nice to see so many loyal Live users 15 years later. And why not? Of course they're still here, it's a legendary and unique creative tool.

Dont know what the year was but it was version 6 on a PC. I had been using Logic on another PC but stopped in 2003-4 when it started to die on me. Took a few years off from music and got a bit miserable, didn't like Cubase or Cakewalk and Live was the only other option at the time.
