-Hideable tracks and folder tracks in the arrange window.

-FULL midi implementation, percentage quantise, groove templates, delete doubles, transformations, etc, etc.

-Midi out from plugins

-To be able to use 3rd party midi fx.

-More colour options, both for the gui and clip colours

-Midi triggerable marker track in arrange page

-Updates on Live's native FX, sidechain added to gate and compressor 2 for instance & a brickwall limiter.

If I had to choose one out of that list, it'd be full midi implementation i think. The midi in Live 4 works great but still feels a bit like an afterthought imho, there are certain functions that are so tried and tested that you really miss em when they're not there anymore.

definitely NEED to BRING BACK (!!!) global quantization hot keys!

This is one of the instrumental functions that set Live in a new class in such as it could be used as an *accurate* musical instrument...
Live is still young and while I appreciate that as the app matures it will change- I don't think it should shed it's performance tool capabilities en leiu of better compostional capabilities/amenities (ie- grid quantize...)

...but that's just my .02

"ALL FX" OFF / ON SWITCHES ON EVERY TRACK

.. so we can turn all effects on and off at once in an Insert rack. Make this button "lit" when fx are on so we can see at a glance where our cpu is sucking wind ..

Instantly free up resources and manage everything better, faster, .. thx ...

multiple sessions and arrangements in one file

Post by velocipede » Thu Mar 03, 2005 10:05 am

I like the idea of having tabs for multiple sessions and arrangements in one file a lot.

My other wish, explained in another thread, is follow actions for scenes, as well as clips.

We've got to be able to see ACID / Apple Loop encoded information in the loop browser. If you're really trying to play live, you can't be messing around with each loop you audition, trying to figure out if it would actually sound good in your mix if it were transposed up or down a semitone.

All I want is an envelope generator...
I will never ask for anything else if they include this; well, at least not for this year, hehehe

Support for Audio Units sub-directories.

My VSTs are all nice and organized and my AU folder is a f--king mess. AU presets too.

Actually, I'd love a fully integrated plug-in list regardless of format. From a user perspective, does it really matter if a plug is AU or VST?

Multiple params to one CC is a MUST.

Have the ability to scan through samples in each drum "pad" within Impulse. Just like ReDrum.

CAPABILITY TO RECORD PARAMETER AUTOMATIONS WITHIN A CLIP IN SESSION VIEW!!!!!!!!

I agree that it needs better quantizing features. Especially for the arrangement view. This way I don't need to use Impulse. Instead, I could just trigger clips and record directly onto the arrangement view. This makes the session view one big fat drum module :P

not only stereo output

but customizable multichannel output

from mono

to stereo

to 5.1

to N channel output for unusual needs

i've been attending a workshop and playing music in a sonic garden with about 70 channels output. ableton live is not enough in environments like this.

i want as much output channels as the soundcard can handle

... and OpenSoundControl support of course!
