the Passport is an external, in an enclosure. he means he took the drive out of the enclosure and put it in his computer.

re the new mb/mbp.. as long as it's the unibody model, the ease of getting to the drive is as i described. same for both models.

that's all it is. take off the back cover and the drive is right there, next to the battery. it couldn't be more simple.

It looks like the current 500 drives are only 5400 rpm but that's what I had before my current drive so its not a deal breaker. I wonder if that cut in speed might also make it a little more durable as far as wear and tear goes. since the cpus went intel the 5400 is really no problem. at all. Cool ...

got an airport extreme base station? i have a 1tb drive hung off mine; my computers wirelessly time machine themselves. i never think about it.

(a time capsule will, obviously, do the same thing)

that is the major, major thing with 'djing' and live. the set up can take forever. and even after years of doing it, i was never really happy with the organization, workflow, etc.

which is why i've been using traktor since it went to 4 decks. ...er, 'decks'.

buying two is certainly a good idea.. but you can get a 1tb external for <$100 these days. use that to back up. (time machine, not mirror)

i'm all for education and training. but a course about how to sound like so-and-so? that doesn't immediately sound warning bells? after you get the mechanics down, this is art. don't make someone else's. besides, the current incarnation of "minimal" is just taco bell: the same 7 ingredient...

the only, imo, 2.5" drive manu you should consider: seagate. this one is the seagate momentus. 5400rpm, 8mb cache, 500gb.
