Patrick Marks aka Pataphysics is an facilitator (teacher, lecturer, project coordinator, collective member) working in various institutional and grassroots community settings. A Mercury Prize-winning songwriter for his work with Speech Debelle (Ninja Tune), he has produced, written and collaborated with artists such as Stic.Man (Dead Prez), Rob Swift (X-ecutioners), Kaiit, Kee’ahn, DRMNGNOW, Hau Latukefu, 360, Adrian Eagle, Lotek ft.Roots Manuva, as well a host of other artists and projects.

His rich background in education and facilitation has provided a wealth of interdisciplinary experience which continues to shape his practice. Through a long history of self-reflexive engagement with his own artistic practice, Pat conducts scholarly research within sociology, politics and the arts.

Pat began running his trumpet through wah-wah pedals and valve amps in high school, and now he loves controlling Moogs and other synths with trumpet. Performing with Ableton Live for over a decade and harnessing the potential of Push, Pat continues his passion for exploring sound design and performance techniques. Incorporating the love of instruments and analogue gear which began as a kid, he keeps pushing innovative techniques and jutsus to perform live in various performance spaces.
