Leon J

His production work spans original music and remixes on Beatport, iTunes,
Bandcamp, and major streaming services, rooted in electronic music — drum
and bass, techno, dubstep, hip-hop — and reaching into pop and folk
collaborations. He tours with St. Paul & The Minneapolis Funk Allstars — a
powerhouse collective of musicians connected through their work with Prince,
with show production running through Ableton Live — and continues to perform
solo DJ sets at clubs and events across the country. He teaches from that same
live, real-world practice — every lesson informed by what’s working on stages
and in studios right now.

His students are his best credential: several have become educators themselves
— two earning Ableton Certified Trainer status along the way — and many have
released tracks on respected labels across electronic music. Whether you’re a
complete beginner or an advanced producer, Leon adapts every lesson to your
goals, with a teaching style that’s clear, supportive, and built on two decades of
classroom and studio experience — including a former faculty post at
Minneapolis Media Institute, and roles as Vice President and lead instructor at a
Minneapolis music education center, plus instruction for Denver’s Sound Barrier
Music Academy. His teaching has one aim: to unlock every student’s creative
potential, whatever their starting point.

Leon offers private instruction in person and remotely, and brings the same
expertise to institutions and industry clients seeking a seasoned producer, DJ,
and educator. Producers, DJs, and electronic musicians of any level: bring your
ideas — leave with music.
