Arsène Martinet

  • Lyon France

Arsène Martinet treats Ableton Live not as software, but as an instrument to be played live, in real time. He teaches producers and performers to step outside conventional workflows, building custom control setups and, in the process, a way of working and sounding that's entirely their own.

Arsène Martinet is a deep techno producer, live performer, and sound designer based in Lyon, France. He came up as a jazz guitarist, and that background still shapes everything he makes, his tracks carry the same spontaneous, in-the-moment energy of improvisation, filtered through deep, hypnotic, psychedelic sound design.

For Arsène, Ableton Live isn't just production software, it's an instrument he plays. Whether he's in the studio or on stage, the philosophy stays the same: every track starts life as a jam, hardware and software woven together, chasing the happy accidents and real human feel that only come from playing in real time.

At the heart of his setup is a deeply personal integration of Max for Live, TouchOSC, and custom-built MIDI controllers, a performance environment built entirely around him. It's what lets him sidestep the usual production workflow and just follow instinct, both when he's writing and when he's performing live. His music has found a home on labels like AEDI Records, FACE_Æ, Aurora Mystica, and Affin Serial.

As a teacher, Arsène doesn't just hand over technique, he shares a way of thinking. He pushes musicians to look past the features and presets, to find their own working process, and to build something that actually sounds like them within the wider electronic music scene.
